Types and methods of use of refractory materials for aluminum smelting industrial furnaces

The commonly used aluminum smelting equipment is an industrial furnace. The furnace lining in contact with molten aluminum is generally built with high-alumina bricks with an Al2O3 content of 80%-85%. When smelting high-purity metal aluminum, mullite bricks or corundum bricks should be used. Some factories use silicon carbide bricks combined with silicon nitride to build the furnace bed slopes and loading waste aluminum materials that are easily corroded and worn. Flowing aluminum troughs and aluminum outlets are heavily scoured by the aluminum melt. Generally, self-bonding or silicon nitride bonded silicon carbide bricks are used for masonry, and zircon bricks are also used as linings. For the blockage of the aluminum outlet, the refractory fiber cone made of vacuum casting has better effect. The furnace lining that does not touch the molten aluminum is generally built with clay brick# clay refractory castables or refractory plastics and other materials. In order to speed up the smelting speed and save energy, industrial furnace manufacturers generally use lightweight bricks, lightweight refractory castables and refractory fiber products as heat insulation layers.

Aluminum smelting induction crucible furnaces are also commonly used equipment. The lining is generally made of high-aluminum refractory castable or refractory ramming material with Al2O3 content of 70% to 80%, and corundum refractory concrete is also used as the lining. 　　　　

The molten aluminum flows out from the aluminum outlet of the furnace through the aluminum flow trough. The groove lining is generally made of silicon carbide bricks, and prefabricated blocks of fused foamed silica sand are also used.
